A ductless heat pump: What is it?
A ductless heat pump is a heating and cooling system that uses one or more interior units, also called evaporators, and an outdoor unit, also known as a condenser, to supply heating and cooling to a particular region or zone within a building. The compressor and condenser are located in the exterior unit, and the evaporator is located inside. A tiny conduit that houses the power cable, communication wiring, and refrigerant lines connect the outside and indoor units. The system works by absorbing heat from the ground or outside air during the cooling mode, transferring it indoors, and then doing the opposite during heating mode. Ductless heat pumps are highly effective and simple to install, ideal for homes or buildings without existing ducting or for adding heating and cooling to particular zones or rooms.
