POSHAN Abhiyaan – A Motivation for Improved Maternal and Child Nutrition
Mission POSHAN, or the National Nutrition Mission, is a transformative initiative by the Government of India and the Ministry of Women and Child Development to enhance maternal and child nutrition. Launched in 2018, this program strives to combat malnutrition by providing a holistic approach to healthcare. It specializes in the first 1,000 days of life, recognizing that proper nutrition during this critical period is crucial for a child’s lifelong development. Through targeted interventions, awareness campaigns, and technological innovations, POSHAN Abhiyaan seeks to empower mothers with knowledge and resources, promoting breastfeeding, dietary diversity, and regular health check-ups. With a mission to reduce stunting, wasting, and anemia, this visionary program is a vital step toward a healthier and more nourished India.
