What is the Swiss inheritance system?

According to the compulsory heirship provisions of Swiss inheritance law, some relatives cannot be disinherited, not even by the last will. This means that the spouses, registered partners, and descendants reduce the so-called disposable portion of the testators. With new laws from 2023, a testator’s disposable portion will always be at least 50% of the estate.
