Brett Bartle on How to Build Strong analytical Skill

Brett Bartle has been recognized as one of the leading thought leaders on applying analytical skills to real-world situations, and on redefining what analytical skills are all about. Brett Bartle has been in the field of data analytics and information security for years, and he’s learned a lot along the way.

Strengthen Analytical Skills

Brett Bartle’s tip is to think like a fourth-grader. That is, rather than filling in every possible answer, be sure to think about what kinds of answers are needed for a certain problem or question. If you were given a paper with 20 questions and only had room for one answer per question, that’s great! But if you had room for two answers per question—and realized you could really answer each question using either A or B—then it might be time to expand your thinking beyond just one possible answer.

Define and Solve Problems

The best place to start is by defining your problems not solutions and then solving them, one at a time. For example, if you’re starting a business and have no knowledge about software or marketing, that’s OK. Start by identifying what you don’t know, but need to learn; you might need software training and/or exposure to successful e-commerce platforms. Once you’ve identified your gaps in knowledge, it’s time to fill them in.
