Customized August Birthstone Jewelry: Allure of Peridot

Back in the 1st and 5th centuries AD, the birthstones were inspired by a Biblical list of 12 gemstones. If you consider these lists, the August birthstone was found to be either sardonyx or carnelian. However, in 1912, the first standardized list was created by Jewellers of America (who, at that time, were known as the National Association of Jewellers). This list considered the primary August birthstone to be sardonyx, and peridot to be an alternative for sardonyx.
