Bishop Dwight Reed was born on August 15, 1958, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the youngest of four children to Bishop Jeremiah and Willie Mae Reed. In 1959, his family relocated to Des Moines, Iowa, where he would grow up and begin his journey of faith and leadership. He attended Wallace Elementary, Amos Hiatt Middle School, and later graduated from Des Moines Technical High School, where he was an active member of ROTC. Bishop Reed pursued higher education at Southeastern Community College and went on to earn his Master of Theology from JCAA, a fully accredited Christian college. Over the years, he pastored two churches in Louisiana before returning to Des Moines. In December 2017, he succeeded his father as pastor of Christ Apostolic Temple, Inc., where he has faithfully served for the past seven years. Today, he leads the largest predominantly African American church in Iowa, continuing his legacy of faith, leadership, and service.
